Overview

Cosmetic procedures are on the rise throughout the United States as both men and women try to combat the effects of aging. Click the boxes below to read more about the cosmetic procedures offered by Skin P.C.

Neurotoxins

A commonly performed procedure, neurotoxins is injected into muscles to treat deep, severe lines by blocking their nerve impulses to weaken the muscles. By weakening the muscles, the wrinkles relax and the skin smooths. Neurotoxins is also used to treat hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. Neurotoxins blocks the nerves which notify the eccrine glands to produce sweat. Affects have been known to last anywhere from four to fourteen months depending on the severity of the hyperhidrosis the patient suffers.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers can be used to soften fine lines and wrinkles, plump lips, lessen the visibility of scars, and fill facial hollows. Hyaluronic acid, a type of sugar found in the body naturally, is injected into the face in an absorbable gel form. This process will reduce the natural affects of aging and achieve a younger-looking appearance. Skin will feel tender and may bruise slightly after injections. Effects of hyaluronic acid are fast-acting and should be noticeable the same day as the injections.

Latisse®

Latisse® is a product that is growing rapidly in popularity. It is a prescription medication to promote the growth of longer, fuller, darker eyelashes. By applying Latisse® consistently every night, for a minimum of eight weeks, patients can expect drastic changes in the appearance of lashes. Latisse® can prove effective for those who use mascara or fake eyelashes to increase the visibility of the natural lashes and increase confidence in those with thin, light, or short lashes. Application of the product will be discussed with patients by the dermatologist.

Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy has been used since the 1930s to treat spider veins in the legs. Patients will meet with a dermatologist who will determine whether not they are a candidate for this treatment. Once a patient has been cleared by a dermatologist, the doctor will inject a salt solution into the varicose veins of the leg causing them to close. Over the course of a few weeks, the body will then absorb the useless vein and it will disappear. Some discomfort is normal, and most doctors recommend wearing compression socks or hosiery after treatment to lessen discomfort and quicken recovery time.
